Deliver the joy of running all amputees !

I often teach how to run to many normal children,
If there is even one amputee kid with a prosthesis, I want to encourage him/her to run on a blade.

From this casual word of a para-athlete, the project of Blade library started.  The Blade (competition prostheses) for running is expensive, the environment for running with the prosthesis is small, and there is little knowledge and information about the prosthesis.  I want to create an environment where as many people as possible can feel the joy of running by removing the obstacles that stand in front of such prosthetic leg users’ desire to run.  That is our wish.

The “Blade Library” which is thought the concept with engineers, prosthetists, and athletes was opened in October 2017 with the support of 631 people through crowdfunding.  Currently, we have 24 types of “Blade (competition prostheses)”, 6 knee joints, and the materials necessary for joining them.  Users can rent it like a library and run freely on the attached truck.  “Give everyone the joy of running!” If you are interested in running with a prosthesis, please feel free to visit the “Blade Library”.

Main Activities

Once a month, we hold a clinic with a prosthetist where prosthetic leg users can practice running by exchanging “Blade” even for the first time. Please feel free to come visit us and experience the competition prosthesis.

It is okay if you learn from a prosthetist at this workshop about changing and fitting prosthetic legs.  If you attend the workshop and obtain a license issued by the Blade Library, you can come here and run freely at any time.

Prosthetic leg users do not live only in Tokyo, but live all over Japan.  The Blade Library provides a place where local prosthetists and prosthetic leg users can experience changing prostheses and running by traveling anywhere in the country upon request.

How do you use this place?

The “Blade Library” is available to anyone who wants to run with a prosthesis and who can put on and take off the prosthesis by themselves. Please see the following terms of use and usage for rules and fees for use.  We are holding a monthly run and a fitting workshop for those who are interested in running with a prosthesis but do not know what to do, or who are not confident in putting on and taking off by themselves. So please feel free to contact us.

General rules

The track is shared with other users. Please train while giving in to other users.

To prosthesis user
